A Musical Evening to Remember!

What a musical evening it was! IMT Nagpur campus came alive with the notes of Carnatic and Classical Indian music on the quaint evening of 6th August, 2015. The concert was organized by the Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth (SPIMACAY) which works towards popularizing the Indian culture in the hearts of people. We were privileged to have two eminent artists, Pandit Rupak Kulkarni and Pandit Kalinath Mishra with us who are masters of this art. The program started with a melodious Ganesh Vandana sung by a Final Year Student, Siddharth Manghat followed by felicitation of guests and lightening of lamp.

Pandit Rupak Kulkarni started with Droopat Raga, the evening romantic raga to create a beautiful and blissful musical ambience for the evening. The ease with which he played the flute and the sequence of raga in his performance moved each one present in the hall. He touched our souls and we found serenity. The solemnity of the flute was followed by the blend of tabla, the only musical instrument which has its own language. The two instruments in spite of being so unique in their own way matched up a common wavelength to make the people delve deep in the musical saga.It felt as if we skipped our heartbeats with every striking note of tabla played by Pandit Kalinath Mishra . The melody of the flute and the rhythm of tabla couldn't stop the music lovers to get goosebumps and to get completely engrossed in their performance.

It was a short yet enriching journey for each one of us in the path of music. It was a realization of the power of Indian music and our deeply rooted tradition.
