Alumni Committee

The Alumni Committee of the Institute of Management Technology, Nagpur works for the expansion of the alumni body while simultaneously pursuing the professional development of the institute’s student body. It aims to foster strong bonds between the alumni and the institute by staying in contact with its alumni base of over 5000 so that every member remains linked to the IMT fraternity. Recognizing the value of IMT Nagpur flag bearers in the corporate arena, the Committee serves as a catalyst to bridge the campus-to-corporate gap through alumni lectures, stream counselling, and career mapping sessions with alumni. We also conduct various events and activities to nourish the precious bond of alumni with its alma mater, where former students get to relive their old days with their batchmates.

These events and activities include:

Melange: The annual alumni event called, ‘Melange’, is a two-day flagship event organized in the Institute every year, which gives an opportunity for the alumni to visit the alma mater and meet and interact with their friends, the faculty and the students of current batch. During this two-day event, several formal and informal activities like sports events, cultural events, events to meet the students to share their corporate world experience and an exclusive meet with the faculty to discuss about their roles and functions in the industry are conducted.  During the faculty-alumni interaction, alumni also share the recent development and trends in business along with expectations of industry from the students and this in combination with other sources of such feedback helps faculty in identifying the gap between the academia and industry and work upon the same to address the industry needs.

Chapter Meets:  The Institute also conducts several alumni chapter meets every year in different cities for not only to give an opportunity for the alumni to meet and interact, more so for the meaningful engagement and involvement of alumni in various activities of the Institute. In this endeavor, the Institute conducts three to four alumni chapter meets across the country every year, in major cities like Mumbai, New Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore etc. The Director, few faculty members and students of the Institute also attend these chapter meets to meet and interact with the alumni.  These chapter meets help in alumni engagement and also to get the inputs about the latest industry trends and business practices besides updating the alumni on recent developments in the Institute. In the last year such chapter meets were conducted in Bangalore, Pune, Mumbai and Delhi.

Alumni Lectures: The Institute ensures that the alumni are not only in touch with their faculty, but also with the current batch of students. And therefore, IMT Nagpur involves its alumni in delivering several corporate interaction sessions throughout the academic year. These are frequently conducted in which prominent alumni from respective organizations provide the latest insights to student managers. It assists students in gaining a better grasp of the corporate world, allowing them to develop holistically as future managers.

Expert Se Poochh: These sessions are conducted by the committee during the placement season, where our alumni who are already working for the visiting company dispel the doubts of student managers who intend to apply for the same company (about recruiting rounds, interviews, work culture, and so on).

SIP and Placement Assistance: As good number of alumni are working in leading organizations in senior level positions, they approach the Institute as and when the company decides to go for talent acquisitions. Good number of leads come from alumni and the Committee aids the Institute in providing Summer Internship Programs and Final Placements to the student managers through the distinguished alumni working with prestigious corporations.

Alumni Portal: The Institute has an exclusive web portal for managing alumni affairs to strengthen alumni relations and engagement. This portal has the updated alumni database with alumni names, batches, specializations, and companies in which they are working, along with their profiles. It also provides information on campus news and events, job postings, and a gallery section with photos and videos regarding alumni events. ALCOM ensure that all information regarding alumni and campus events is periodically updated in this portal. Therefore, this portal acts as a link between the Institute and the alumni to learn about the recent developments on campus, and it acts as a common platform for the alumni across all batches to stay connected.

Batch Champions Meet: The committee acts as a mediator between the representative of every batch and the institute, enabling the alumni to contribute to enhancing pedagogy in relation to current industry trends. We have always witnessed the constant support of our alumni towards the training and grooming of our student managers for their corporate life ahead. They play a vital role in taking IMT Nagpur to new heights through continuous involvement in important decisions and assistance to their alma mater.

Alumni Diaries: The alumni committee, in collaboration with our alumni, post a series of episodes on various social media platforms in which they discuss their learnings from IMT Nagpur and thereafter in corporate life.

Newsletters: A monthly alumni newsletter is prepared by ALCOM and circulated among the alumni. This newsletter covers events and activities organized in the Institute during the previous month to keep the alumni informed and updated on several developments. Besides this, every year an annual magazine called, ‘Aluminate’ is published and circulated to all the alumni during the end of the academic year consisting of all significant events, activities and alumni achievements happened in the year.
